eighteen + fifteen / VLOG it’s in the bag!

Today is DAY EIGHTEEN: Record a VLOG! It can be about anything you’d like!

Not sure if you’ve even noticed, but I skipped day fifteen! I did it on purpose because I wanted to save that topic for day eighteen, the vlog! I felt like they would go well together since my giant Mary Poppins bag has SO much in it!

Let me know what you think!

Also, all those band aids came in handy because I cut off a chunk of my knuckle on my middle finger the other day when I was helping a student cut their clients hair lol oops!

What sorts of things do you keep in your bag?
Do you keep your whole life in it or just the essentials?

seventeen / latest obsession

The blog-tember challenge is a fun, daily blogging challenge created by the

Today is DAY SEVENTEEN: Just for fun, your latest obsession. What can you not get enough of these days?

I don’t have any NEW obsessions…
but I’m getting re-obsessed with capsule wardrobes.

Capsule wardrobes aren’t a new thing by any means…but when Caroline of Un-Fancy announced in April that she was stepping away from her blog for the moment, I got sad and ended up binge-reading all her posts from day one to the last one!
I’ve been so unhappy with my wardrobe lately because I feel like my style has changed, my clothes are getting worn out, and my body shape and the things I’m comfortable wearing has changed.
I’ve been adding things in slowly, to enhance my wardrobe but I also don’t want to have to worry too much about what I’m putting on. I just want everything to go together!! It takes entirely too long to get dressed a lot of the time and I’m not happy about that.

If you’re wondering what the heck even is a capsule wardrobe then read this.
Caroline explains it so well, and that’s exactly what I want mine to be and do for me. I want to have a structured system that helps me have clothes for every season and situation, without having so much excess that I don’t even wear! Everything in my closet I should love.

For some reason, this time around reading all about how to have a capsule wardrobe, I feel like it’s attainable. I went through my closet at the beginning of the year with the wardrobe architect challenge and kinda had a freak out moment , so I didn’t do much after that. Now I am hoping to re-evaluate and re-plan. It’s not as scary anymore, so I’m excited!

Have you ever tried a capsule wardrobe?
Did it work for you? Or was it not a good fit?

sixteen / real me vs. online me

The blog-tember challenge is a fun, daily blogging challenge created by the

Today is DAY SIXTEEN: The real you vs. the online you. Are they the same or different?

I like to think that I stay the same either online or off.

I try to use the same voice on my blog that I do in real life and I am never going to be one of those people who are posting things for attention or posting things that I don’t stand behind.
I always find I connect more to bloggers who are their true selves, like if I met them in real life they would act the same way. That’s how I want my blog to be, people who follow and like me for exactly who I am in real life.

Do you go 100% you all the time?
Or do you have an online persona?

fourteen / 5 books

The blog-tember challenge is a fun, daily blogging challenge created by the

Today is DAY FOURTEEN: The 5 books that have impacted your life the most.

I’m going to be completely honest.

I haven’t read many books in my life so far.
It’s not because I don’t love reading, because I totally do love it!! It’s just so hard for me to pick what to read. I’m such a perfectionist in life, and I hate wasting time because there are so many things I want to do with it, so picking a book blindly out of the MILLIONS of books is an impossible feat.

How do you even decide what to read?
How do you know if you’ll like it?

As of now in my life, I’ve only read books when I knew a movie was being made, with the exceptions being the books I was assigned in school, the Harry Potter series and The Host. I figure that if there’s a movie, the book must be good! It hasn’t let me down yet!

So I’m going to list some books I’ve enjoyed reading, instead of the most impactful.

Harry Potter series
My Grandma got me my first Harry Potter book, and then every year I would get the new book for my birthday! This series made me love reading because of all the magical-ness!

The Host
This book was recommended to me by my best friend in high school because it’s one of her favorites! It starts out a little slow but only because you don’t really know whats happening, but then it’s SO GOOD!! I’ve read this book so many times, it’s my favorite book as of now. The movie is not good though…

The Hunger Games series
I started reading these books because my husband read them all and he loved them. I also experimented with reading the book AFTER seeing the movie. Usually I read the book before and then sometimes I’m disappointed with the movie! Well I really like the books and movies so maybe they just did really well lol

Divergent series
I also read this one because there were going to be movies. I liked reading this series a lot, but I started losing interest in the third book part of the way through…I had to start up again a couple times to get through it lol

So now, I repeat my questions:
How do you even decide what to read?
How do you know if you’ll like it?!

thirteen / season of life

The blog-tember challenge is a fun, daily blogging challenge created by the

Today is DAY THIRTEEN: Create a collage or inspiration/mood board for this season in your life.

PicMonkey Collage1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Do you all remember the movie 13 going on 30? Jenna Rink is a 13 year old girl who wishes to be 30 because she sees her current stage of life (or season of life) as sucky. She longs to be “30, flirty and thriving” and some magical wishing dust takes her there. You know what she finds out when she’s at that magical age she longed for??!

Wishing away your current season of life for a better season in the future doesn’t work out because, at EVERY season there will be negative things going on. The good news is, there will also be PLENTY of positive ones!!

That’s why you hear people say “savor your season”!
What does that even mean?! Savoring your season means that you are grateful and happy about the current situation you are in, regardless of the negative things. I have the hardest time with this lesson because I feel the same as Jenna (and most of everyone else!), I want to get father along already so that I can be done with the challenges I’m having right now! I want to already have my goals accomplished!

I’m confident to say that if you look back to when you were a teenager, you longed for more, to be better, to be older because you expected to be THAT much farther ahead…and now, you look back and want to shake yourself and say to be happy with what you have now and cherish all those moments!!
NOW, Imagine your future self, looking at your current self and wanting to shake you because you should savor these everyday moments that you’re having right now!

I challenge you (and myself) to STOP the thoughts of wishing away your season, just stop them. Instead, think of a few of the positive things that are a result of your current season.

My current season:

I’m married to someone that I love more and more each day! I’m working super hard. I make my husband and family a priority. I am finding time to blog and craft, to see my friends, and to learn as much as I can. I’m doing the things I love as much as I can. And I’m choosing to see the good stuff.

What is your current season of life right now?
How are you going to cherish it?
